The Sri Lankan Green Label (Ecolabel) Scheme

The Sri Lankan Green Label (Ecolabel) Scheme was initiated by the Lanka Institute of Ecolabelling (LIOE) set up by a group of professionals engaged in environmental conservation and entrepreneurship, with inputs, encouragement and technical assistance from the Global Ecolabelling Network ( GEN ).

The Lanka Institute of Ecolabelling (LIOE) was incorporated and registered with the Department of the Registrar of Companies under Section 17 of the Companies Act of 1982 on 19 December 2005 .

A National policy on ecolabelling, the policy statement, has been finalized and accepted after extensive consultations with all stakeholders and concerned ministries, departments and agencies of the government.
